Tom Hardy, being known for playing the role of hardened characters actually has quite a sensitive spot for animals. The Mad Max actor has made a very touching tribute to his “his besets friend ever” of six years, his rescue dog Woodstock. Hardy’s dog passed away after battling an inflammatory muscle disease, polymyositis, for six months.
On a blog post shared on Tumblr Hardy admits, “I don’t normally speak out about family and friends but this is an unusual circumstance…he was far too young to leave us and we at home are devastated by his loss.” During his tribute Hardy describes the first time he saw Woodstock as a week old puppy near an Atlanta interstate near where he was filming. He luckily brought the dog to safety after it had been so scared, tired and hungry. The dog eventually laid on his shoulders to fall asleep. “Never forget that night. It was wonderful,” Hardy states.
Hardy in the past has brought his dog along with him to his movie premier “Legend” and Woodstock earned number 73 as Time magazine’s Most Influential Animals of 2016. He signs off his tribute saying, “Thank you Woody for choosing to find us. We will love you and be with you and you with us forever.”
