The Met Gala is fashion’s biggest night, and it’s always exciting to see our favorite stars exploring its latest theme. “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” has been chosen as the Costume Institute’s next exhibition, and here’s everything you should know before the Met Gala returns on May 4, 2024.
The Costume Institute’s next exhibition will reawaken 400 years of fashion history by putting some of the dormant pieces from their permanent collection on full display. It will feature around 250 items, many of which have rarely been seen in public—and some are so fragile that it’s impossible to wear them ever again.
The Costume Institute will rely on modern technology to make their next exhibition truly pop. Video animation, light projection, artificial intelligence, and illusion techniques will be used to create an immersive sensorial experience and capture the essence of each piece on display.
