The long running movie franchise Terminator appears to be coming to an end soon as Paramount has decided to let go of the saga. According to a recent New York Daily News report, the new Terminator film, Terminator: Genisys, was supposed to be the first film in a new Terminator trilogy.
Despite the fact, the new film, which actress Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones is starring in, will be the last of its kind.
Based on the Paramount interview with the New York Daily News, it appears that they plan on dropping the franchise completely. “The studio has taken the sequel off the production slate completely, meaning there is no preproduction or any plans for another sequel”.
It’s very interesting that Paramount has come to this conclusion as the Terminator: Genisys film made roughly $440.6 million dollars worldwide.
Nevertheless, it was one of the less grossing Terminator films, as it ranked second to last in terms of worldwide grosses for the Terminator films. This was probably due to the fact that it made only $89.7 million dollars in the United States. The rest of the film’s gross was made from showings in other countries.
