There is a heated debate occurring between folks who love to grab a fast and casual Tex-Mex meal. Moe’s fans are extremely passionate about the greasy selections at their favorite restaurant while Chipotle fans seen to be just as enthusiastic about Chipotle’s fresh fare. And while CHipotle has around 1900 restaurant chains as compared to Moe’s 650, in the most recent poll conducted around a year ago, Moe’s received the Tex-Mex “Brand of the Year Award”. Moe’s is also operated by the same owners of Auntie Anne’s and CInnabon, who clearly know how to cultivate a dedicated customer fan base.
Chipotle had won the award the past 3 years prior to 2016 but it can be assumed that their ranking fell due to the E.Coli outbreaks in some of their chains across the country. However, it can be safe to assume that Chipotle fans will continue to stay loyal and visit the restaurant on a consistent basis, even with the rank drop.
Moe’s and Chipotle offer different versions of similar kinds of food. Moes, however, has a bigger menu and has their famous queso dip. Chipotle is now, finally, jumping on the queso dip trend as well. And, if they perfect their queso and turn Moe’s lovers into Chipotle fans with their new, cheesy offerings, than maybe Chipotle will reclaim the spot as the Brand of the Year in this year’s late November poll.
