The Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor reveals he is excited as ever to repeat his famous Star Wars role of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Although he admitted he would love to star in a Star Wars spinoff based on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s life, he is definitely sick of hearing the same question.
Throughout his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! McGregor confesses, “I’ve been asked this question so many times…it’s got to the point now where it looks like I’m touting for work at Disney’s front door” nonetheless he would still be happy to do it! Anthony Breznican of Entertainment Weekly explains the reason why no progress has been made towards Obi-Wan’s film is because the saga is still not quite finished with him yet. Breznican predicts he “wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan thing happen beyond Episode IX.”
Entertainment Weekly and McGregor have also sat down together to discuss the role of the film and re-confirm his interests in starring in it. As of now, there hasn’t been any official offers but McGregor does like the idea and thinks it can be a “good segue between the last episode of the prequels and the new episodes.” McGregor is definitely still one with the Force.
