5 Tennis Movies You Should Watch After “Challengers”

Challengers is taking theatres by storm right now, and it’s definitely one of the best movies set in the world of tennis, but it’s not the first to broach this subject. If you’re in the mood for some more tennis-themed movies, these five are a good place to start.

“King Richard”

Venus and Serena Williams are two of the biggest tennis stars of their generation, and this biopic sees their coach and father Richard helping them get there.

“Battle of the Se-es”

Another film based on a true story, Battle of the Se-es stars Emma Stone and Steve Carell as Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, who played one of the most controversial exhibition matches in tennis history.

“Wimbledon”

Many have joked that “Spider-Man to tennis pipeline” is very real after three Spider-Man leading ladies went on to lead tennis-themed movies. This one stars Kirsten Dunst as an up-and-coming tennis star trying to make a name for herself at Wimbledon.

“Borg vs McEnroe”

If the rivalry between Patrick and Art happens to be your favorite part of Challengers, make sure to check out this film that chronicles the fued between two leading tennis players of their generation – Björn Borg and John McEnroe.

“7 Days in Hell”

Films about tennis revelries don’t always have to be tense and grueling. This mockumentary starring Andy Samberg Kit Harington puts a funny twist on the longest tennis match in history, played between John Isner Nicolas Mahut at the 2010 Wimbledon.
