TV Shows About Music Industry’s Ups and Downs Are Everywhere Right Now

The music industry inspired many amazing shows over the years, and they’re going stronger than ever right now. This genre is experiencing somewhat of a renascence in 2023, and these shows are responsible for putting it back on the map.

Daisy Jones & The Six

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s book of the same name, Daisy Jones & The Six chronicles the rise and fall of a fictional rock band during the 70s. It stars Riley Keough and Sam Claflin, and it’s inspired by Reid’s love for Fleetwood Mac.

Swarm

Donald Glover’s new series explores the dark side of pop music fandoms, drawing inspiration from Beyoncé’s “Bey Hive”. It follows a young woman Dre, whose obsession with her favorite pop superstar takes her to dark and unexpected places.

Poker Face: Rest in Metal

Poker Face saw its heroine solve crimes all around America, and one of them involved a washed-up metal band Doxxxology. The episode Rest in Metal shows members of Doxxxology going the extra mile to claim the credit for a song that isn’t theirs.

The Idol

HBO’s The Idol is yet to be released, and it might be the darkest take on the music industry yet. It centers on a rising pop star Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and her complicated relationship with a modern-day cult leader Tedros (The Weeknd).
