Rogue One is Getting a Sequel Novel

The latest installment to the epic space saga, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, pulled fans with its grittier tone and a fresh peak into beloved events of the original Star Wars trilogy. For many, it was a film that wonderfully stood on its own amongst the many other Star Wars tales, so much so that many begged for a more immediate sequel. A hero comes in author Christie Golden, who will pen Inferno Squad, a forthcoming novel set after Rogue One’s happenings. The novel will release on July 25.

The novel will focus on a squad determined to put an end to Saw Gerrera’s remaining Partisans following Rogue One’s intense, climactic events. Additionally, the Star Wars Twitter account joined in the announcement celebration, tweeting that the new novel begins “immediately after” Rogue One.

“The Rebellion may have heroes like Jyn Erso and Luke Skywalker. But the Empire has Inferno Squad. After the humiliating theft of the Death Star plans and the resulting destruction of the battle station, the Empire is on the defensive. Their mission: infiltrate and eliminate the remnants of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans.
