Movies About Rich People’s Downfall Are Everywhere Right Now

Movies about the rich and famous have been around since the early days of Hollywood, and they’re going stronger than ever this fall, but in a brand-new way. Movies about the downfall of the upper class are everywhere right now and these three are being showered with praise from all sides.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Just like the first Knives Out movie, Glass Onion is exploring the demise of a group of rich and privileged, but pretty fun and colorful characters. Benoit Blanc is coming back to solve a murder mystery taking place on a secluded private island of a tech billionaire.

The Menu

The Menu combined two pretty popular emerging genres we’re seeing everywhere these days. It’s a culinary thriller about the downfall of the rich, which follows a group of wealthy people attending a fancy dinner prepared by a celebrity chef, who has something pretty unorthodox in store for them.

Triangle of Sadness

Triangle of Sadness created a lot of buzz at this year’s Cannes Film Festival when it collected Palme d’Or. It centers on a group of travelers on a luxury cruise for the ultra-rich, including a fashion model celebrity couple, whose trip turns upside down once they get stranded on an isolated island.
