The Alamo Drafthouse is a famous theatre known for its banning of use of telephone and talking as well as serving beer! Basically a dream for most movie-goers. They are also known for making special events for big movies that are to be released. Therefore, it was no surprise they decided to host a special evening to celebrate the premiere of Wonder Woman, the action filled film based on the female superhero.
The theatre announced they will be hosting a one night women only screening of the comic book based film. They advertised the event writing, “Apologies gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘No Guys Allowed’ for one special night at the Alamo Ritz.” They continued their announcement stating it will be a fun girl’s night to really enjoy the empowering movie. Along with that, they announced on Twitter that all proceeds will be donated to the PPFA, Planned Parenthood. Of course, not too many people were impressed by this gesture.
Men are not too happy about it and expressed their anger online even stating it is “sexist towards men.” However, the screening sold out immediately and a large amount of people were extremely supportive of Alamo. Alamo has even decided to expand this women-only program across the country!
