Young Academy Award-winning actor, Heath Ledger, is finally getting the recognition he deserves. The documentary, I Am Heath Ledger, is officially being released about the heartthrob who has passed away in 2008. At the premiere, Ledger’s sister, Kate, has exposed and clarified that Heath’s role in The Dark Knight actually had nothing to do with his death.
For years, people have claimed his mental transformation into becoming The Joker has led him into his depression. Although Ledger admitted to the New York Times that he locked himself in motel rooms, Kate made it clear that these stories had nothing to do with his demise. In fact, Kate explains how taking such a role in the The Dark Knight was the complete opposite for him. “It couldn’t be more wrong. He had an amazing sense of humor, and I guess maybe only his family and friends knew that, but he was having fun” Kate confirms.
A main focus of this film is to give the world some truths about Heath and his life. Producer of the documentary, Matt Amato, mentions that, “I hope it’s an antidote to a lot of the gossip that exists in the world. There are some really terrible things about Heath out there.”
