Get Out Is a Horror Movie Only a Black Person Could Have Made

The new film, Get Out, which was written and directed by Jordan Peele, is a horror movie about the mixed racial couple, Chris Washington and Rose Armitage, and their travels to visit Rose’s family in an upper class, white neighborhood. The film starts out quite strangely, but gets even weirder with many twists popping out throughout the film. Peele, who is best known for being a part of the Key & Peele duo, has mastered the concept of foreshadowing in this film, leaving viewers at the edge of their seat. With a crazy plot twist of the Armitages having a hobby of kidnapping and hypnotizing black people in order to live inside their bodies, Peele has managed to construct a film that inserts fear in its viewers. He openly states how the cultural film was created to represent how he believes Americans view black people today. One of the main examples of this was when Rosa failed to mention to her family that Chris, who is played by Daniel Kaluuya, was black. Chris’ love for Rose blinds him to the horror that lies within her family and puts him in grave danger.
