So you had a wild night out and also didn’t make it to the grocery store this week. Maybe your in-laws have decided to unexpectedly drop by and you want to look like you’ve got your life together on this fine Sunday.
Fear not-this simple french toast recipe uses simple ingredients you’re likely to have and can be upgraded depending on what’s in your pantry or fridge! Either way, it’s fancier than a box of cereal and it’s sure to please.
Ingredients
Eggs
Half-and-half or milk
Cinnamon
Sugar
Salt
Butter or butter spread
Vanilla
Bread (even better if it’s a little stale, it holds up nicely)
How To Make It:
Whisk together eggs, some milk, and the spices. Pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish, bowl, or plate with edges.
Dip your bread slices into the egg mixture until they just absorb the liquid- 30 seconds per side should do the trick. Don’t put too many slices in the dish or you’ll end up with a soggy mess.
Heat the butter in a pan. Add soaked bread slices. Cook until golden over medium/low heat.
Serve with syrup, powdered sugar, fruit, nuts, chocolate chips- whatever you have on hand!
Enjoy and consider making mimosas 🙂
