In a not so strange turn of events, Netflix has officially confirmed the summer breakout horror series Stranger Things will return for a second season in 2017.

The Duffer Brothers will return as writers and executive producers for Season 2, which will consist of nine episodes, one more than the first season.

Set in the ’80s, Stranger Things centers on the disappearance of a young boy (Noah Schnapp) and a telekinetic girl (Millie Bobby Brown) who helps his friends search for him. Meanwhile, the boy’s mom (Winona Ryder), older brother (Charlie Heaton), and the town’s police chief (David Harbour) investigate on their own.

The Duffer Brothers told Entertainment Weekly that most of the characters from Season 1 will return, while four new characters will debut in Season 2. “There’s going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn’t see in Season 1,” said Matt Duffer.

He also revealed the show will “venture a little bit outside of Hawkins,” but not too far from the Upside Down. “There’s a lot we don’t know about the Upside Down at the end of Season 1,” Duffer said. “We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins. And a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster? What else could be out there?”

As the months go on, Netflix continues to produce and release tons of more Netflix originals, whether it be TV series or movies. The entertainment company released 39 new original movies, specials, and full seasons of TV premiering throughout the month of April, and over 50 in the month of March.

There are 36 that were released over the course of the month of May, including the second season of Dear White People and new seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Bill Nye Saves The World, as well as the special Steve Martin and Martin Short: An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life, which is said to be hilarious.

Netflix has faced competition in the TV streaming field from massive companies like Google parent Alphabet and Amazon for years, but at least one of its competitors sees the streaming service as out of reach. Susanne Daniels, the global head of original content for YouTube, admitted in a recent interview that her company’s original programming can’t compete with the investment in original content that Netflix has made in recent years.

“I think we’re in an early stage,” Daniels said of YouTube Red, the company’s ad-free, subscription programming service. “I don’t think you can compete with Netflix at this point; they’re too far ahead. But I do think, in time, we can compete with Hulu and Amazon and certainly Apple, and hopefully, you’ll see us do that.”

Netflix, which will have spent an estimated $8 billion on content in 2018, reached a mark of 125 million global subscribers in April. For contrast, the latest reported count on YouTube Red’s subscriber base had the company at 1.5 million paying members, with another 1 million on a free trial.

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos compliments the amusing television show stating, “Arrested Development brings us structures, outerwear and choreography like no other comedy in history.”

Even the narrator of the show, Ron Howard expresses his excitement of continuing the show and prepares himself for “all the craziness the Bluths are going to face this season.” Let’s face it; what did the Bluths not deal with.

While season 4 was kind of a flop, season 5 is highly anticipated and will be released on May 29, 2018. We will definitely be binge-watching this one. 

Netflix has announced on Thursday that the well-talked about reboot of Queer Eye is coming back for a second season on June 15, “Can you believe?!” The remade version of the early 2000s show consists of five gay men, also known as the Fab Five, who travel around the Atlanta, Georgia area and give eight people makeovers.

Each season has 8 episodes in which the Fab Five go to their house and transform their current situation.

Each member of the Fab Five specializes in a category in which they help give a makeover.

Antoni Porowski specializes in Food and Wine, Bobby Berk specializes in interior design, Karamo Brown specializes in culture, Jonathan Van Ness specializes in grooming, and Tan France specializes in fashion.

All five of the same members are returning for season two, whew! Season one debuted in early February, and people’s hearts were instantly warmed. The five men transform people who struggle financially, who have given up on their appearances, and who just want to break out of their shell.

The Fab Five help give the eight men confidence to live their life again. Also, they transform their house into a new updated modern version. Each man receives an entirely new wardrobe and grooming products for them to continue to use, even after the show airs.

Since Disney bought Lucasfilms and, therefore, the Star Wars franchise, the fans of the saga created by George Lucas has been waiting for Star Wars-themed parks or expansions in the already-existing Disney parks. Yet, even as the film franchise expansion has amounted to incredible success, little was known about these possibilities.

But now, Disney has put an official approximate date for the opening of “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge”: summer 2019, in Disneyland, and late fall of the same year in Disney World.

Disney parks have merged Star Wars rides and attractions, but Galaxy’s Edge is a much bigger project, maybe the biggest since Disney bought the franchise. 

Rather than a ride, or a themed area on a park, Galaxy’s Edge is a new world intended to let the fans step into the Star Wars Universe.

For example, no Disney employees will be found in the shops and restaurants, but local inhabitants of Batuu, the planet where the park is set. Also, the rollercoasters are intended to be part of a bigger interactive quest that the guest can follow.

Moving from traditional parks to more interactive environments has been a tactic used by Universal Studios for more than a decade, with The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.  But Disney is catching up. Besides Galaxy’s Edge, Disney is working on a Star Wars-themed hotel in Disney World to allow visitors to be in an interactive adventure 24/7 in their vacations.

The London stage play continuation of his story has now been confirmed to be the last chapter of the famous wizardry odyssey.

Cursed Child picks up right where Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 left off: with an adult Harry and his wife Ginny sending off their two sons to Hogwarts. The play reunites Harry, Ron, Hermione and Draco, along with a whole new generation of Hogwarts students.

At the gala opening for the play, Rowling said that now Harry’s story is coming to an end. “He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done,” she said. “This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a five-hour play split over two parts, and with the script now being released as a book, and perhaps a movie adaptation in the future, at least we have a little more to look forward to before finally bidding adieu to our favorite school of magic.

Sadly, all Game of Thrones fans will soon come to realize that there are only two seasons left of the drama series. However, HBO is willing to explore potential spinoffs to begin after Game of Thrones comes to an end.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they have been considering four series’ with author George R.R. Martin and four other writers. Each project will be set in their own time frame of the world Martin has invented in his books, A Song of Ice and Fire. Fortunately, if these project ideas get accepted, the series will already have executive producers, Dan Weiss and David Benioff. However, the current authors will not partake in writing any of the projects, but still wish to take part in supporting it.

The status now for these projects is still unpredictable. HBO will be making no official decisions until the scripts are in. Martin has been working with Carly Wray, who has written for Mad Men, and Jane Goldman, who is known for her series of X-Men. The other writers include Oscar winning Brian Helgeland and Max Borenstein. Nevertheless, we are still able to enjoy Game of Thrones and its new seventh season premiering this July.
