We can count on the Recording Academy to create quite a commotion every time they share Grammy Awards nominations, and they did it again this past week. Beyoncé is leading the way with historic 11 nods, but some other beloved artists weren’t as lucky and their hit albums and songs were largely ignored this year.

Song/Record of The Year

Despite receiving song of the year nod, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” isn’t in the running for record of the year. Sabrina Carpenter is in the running in both categories with two different songs, and many were shocked to see the Academy choose “Please Please Please” as the song of the year contender over “Espresso”.

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande will be in the running for three Grammy awards with her latest album Eternal Sunshine, but only in pop categories after being shut out of the main competition.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa received even less love from the Academy for her latest album Radical Optimism. She didn’t even manage to break into the pop categories, despite previously dominating them with Future Nostalgia.

Tyla

Tyla was also completely ignored by the Grammy voters after receiving the inaugural Grammy Award for best African music performance last year and received zero nods for her self-titled debut album.

Jack Antonoff

Jack Antonoff won three consecutive awards for best producer and was considered a front-runner this year. He failed to score nominations despite producing two albums that scored nods for the album of the year – Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.

Sabrina Carpenter set the stage for her new album Short n’ Sweet with “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”, but the rest of its tracklist is equally impressive. We’re bringing you four songs that created the biggest splash after this album hit the shelves on Friday.

“Taste”

Carpenter made a great choice when she picked “Taste” as the third single from Short n’ Sweet. Its gory music video is a love letter to the 90s classic Death Becomes Her, and it stars none other than our favorite Gen-Z scream queen Jenna Ortega.

“Slim Pickins”

Many lyrics from Short n’ Sweet stirred a commotion on social media, but “since the Lord forgot my gay awakening” from “Slim Pickins” definitely inspired more interpretations than any other.

“Coincidence”

Carpenter’s fans are convinced that many songs on Short n’ Sweet are inspired by the love triangle involving Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello, and “Coincidence” is the most obvious example.

“Bed Chem”

“Bed Chem” is shaping up to be one of the biggest non-single songs from Short n’ Sweet. It sees Carpenter exploring the chemistry with her new-found love interest, and it seems to be inspired by Barry Keoghan, the singer’s boyfriend who appeared in the music video for “Please Please Please”.

“The song of the summer” designation is given to that one catchy track we can’t escape all summer long, and this year has given us several strong candidates. The race for the “song of the summer” wages on, and these three artists are on the verge of coming out victorious.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter scored her first No. 1 single with “Please Please Please”—and this isn’t even her strongest “song of the summer” contender. That honor belongs to “Espresso”, the bubblegum pop anthem that’s been blaring everywhere we go all summer long.

Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan went from relative unknown to a huge sensation in just a few months, and her breakout hit “Good Luck, Babe!” helped her get there. She also found viral success with several other songs this summer, including “Hot To Go!” and “Red Wine Supernova”.

Charli XCX

If we had to pick one album that summer 2024 would be remembered by, Charli XCX’s Brat would make the cut. It influenced pop culture at large and made it to the cultural fabric of our society, producing several songs worthy of the “song of the summer” title, including the viral hit “Apple” and the “Girl, So Confusing” remix featuring Lorde.

In an era dominated by digital streaming and instant downloads, the resurgence of vinyl records might seem like a step back in time. Yet, vinyl is experiencing a significant comeback, charming music enthusiasts across generations. Let’s take a look at why vinyl records are spinning back into the mainstream.

The Allure of Physical Media

One of the primary drivers behind vinyl’s resurgence is the tangible connection it offers. Unlike digital music, vinyl records provide a physical medium that fans can collect, display, and handle. The act of flipping through a collection, pulling out a record, and placing it on a turntable is a ritual that engages the senses and enhances the listening experience.

Superior Sound Quality

Many audiophiles argue that vinyl records offer a warmer, richer sound compared to the compressed formats of CDs and digital files. The analog nature of vinyl captures the full range of audio, from the lowest bass to the highest treble.

The Ritual of Listening

Selecting a record involves physical interaction and decision-making, which can make the experience more personal and thoughtful. This ritual extends to the act of listening itself, which typically involves setting aside time to enjoy an album from start to finish. Contrasts this with the often passive, background nature of digital music consumption.

Post Malone hasn’t given us any new albums or solo singles this year, but that’s not stopping him from ruling the charts. He got to join forces with some of the world’s leading artists this spring, and here are three A-list collaborations that got everyone talking.

“Levii’s Jeans” ft. Beyoncé

Beyoncé joined forces with a selected few artists on her country-inspired album Cowboy Carter, and Post Malone somehow managed to make the cut. Their song “Levii’s Jeans” became one of the album’s biggest hits and increased interest in Levi’s jeans, reportedly generating over $1 million in revenue for this fashion brand.

“Fortnight” ft. Taylor Swift

After joining forces with Beyoncé, Post Malone partnered up with another record-breaking pop superstar – Taylor Swift. Their collaboration “Fortnight” was released as the lead single from her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, and it topped the charts all around the world.

“I Had Some Help” ft. Morgan Wallen

After spending two weeks at No. 1 with “Fortnight”, Post Malone returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with his next collaboration. Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help” will be featured on his next album, and he opened the door for Post Malone to keep experimenting with the country sound.

Billie Eilish knocks us off our feet every time she drops a new album, and she did it once again with her latest record. Hit Me Hard and Soft lives up to its name, giving us a perfect mix between edgy bangers and emotional ballads, and here are five songs we can’t get enough of.

“Lunch”

The album’s lead single is a strong candidate for the next song of the summer, and it gives us major “Bad Guy” vibes. It’s one of Eilish’s most personal singles to date and it sees her opening up about her attraction to women.

“Chihiro”

Eilish has always been a huge fan of Studio Ghibli films, and this song named after the Spirited Away heroine Chihiro has what it takes to become the album’s next big hit.

“L’Amour de Ma Vie”

Eilish gave us many experimental songs that toy with different genres on Hit Me Hard and Soft, including “L’Amour de Ma Vie”, and she even decided to drop its extended version.

“Birds of a Feather”

Featured in a recent Heartstopper teaser, “Birds of a Feather” is one of the album’s most emotional tracks and it talks about love that never dies.

“Blue”

Many songs on Hit Me Hard and Soft explore the same themes and even feature the same phrases, and its final track “Blue” ties them all together at the very end.

After a lot of anticipation, Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism finally hit the shelves this month, and it’s ruling the charts around the world. She found her bliss on this joyous record and gave us several songs we’ll be hearing everywhere this summer, from “Houdini” to “Falling Forever”.

“Houdini”

Dua Lipa kicked off her new era with the lead single Houdini”, and this catchy bop did a great job introducing us to her new sound and the themes she wanted to explore on this new album.

“End of an Era”

The opening track of Radical Optimism also does a great job cementing the carefree vibe of her new era, and it’s one of the album’s best songs we haven’t heard before its release.

“Falling Forever”

Dua Lipa wouldn’t be where she is today if we hadn’t fallen for her signature dance-pop sound, and “Falling Forever” is the next disco banger we’ve been waiting for.

“Illusion”

Another song we can’t wait to hear on the dance floor, “Illusion” has been released as Radical Optimism’s third single, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see it grow into a huge sleeper hit.

“These Walls”

Another dance-pop banger that will define Lipa’s new era, “These Walls” sees her accepting the end of a relationship with grace and getting ready to move on.

Guess who’s back with something new and electrifying? That’s right, Billie Eilish just dropped some huge news about her third studio album. We’re here to spill all the details. Titled Hit Me Hard and Soft, the album is set to release on May 17, 2024. Let’s dive into what makes this upcoming release a must-listen!

The Title and Concept

The album, aptly named Hit Me Hard and Soft, suggests a blend of intensity and vulnerability, themes that Eilish has skillfully woven into her previous work. Known for her lyrical depth and emotional resonance, Eilish’s new title hints at exploring dualities within her music—perhaps channeling both the harder edges and softer tones of her artistic spectrum.

The Unique Release Strategy

In a move that diverges from traditional album launches, Eilish announced that she will not be releasing singles ahead of the full album. Instead, she wants fans to experience the album in its entirety, emphasizing the cohesive narrative and artistic integrity of the project.

Collaboration with Finneas

Once again, Eilish has teamed up with her brother and close collaborator, Finneas, who has produced the album. The sibling duo has famously created magic in the studio before. Finneas’ nuanced production perfectly complements Eilish’s distinctive vocal style.

Beyoncé’s decision to embrace country on Cowboy Carter took everyone by surprise, but this album ended up exceeding our wildest expectations. It’s shaping up to be one of the defining albums of 2024, and it’s given us many songs we’ll be listening to on repeat all spring and summer long.

“Texas Hold ‘Em”

Before rocking our world with Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé gave us a taste of things to come with “Texas Hold ‘Em”, and this song isn’t going anywhere after climbing to the top of the carts around the world.

“Jolene”

Dolly Parton has given us one of the timeless country classics with “Jolene”, and Beyoncé is the latest artist to cover it, putting a feisty and rebellious twist on its pleading lyrics.

“II Most Wanted” ft. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus’ fans have been hoping she’ll join forces with Beyoncé for years, and their prayers have finally been answered. “II Most Wanted” is the best of both worlds, and it’s one of the album’s strongest duets.

“Bodyguard”

Cowboy Carter has also given us several solo songs that defy genres and serve as a great showcase of Beyoncé’s versatility, and “Bodyguard” is a case in point.

“Ya Ya”

If you’re looking for a carefree bop to add to your playlist, “Ya Ya” is here to knock your boots off and we’ll be dancing to its catchy beat all summer long.

“Texas Hold ‘Em”

Before rocking our world with Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé gave us a taste of things to come with “Texas Hold ‘Em”, and this song isn’t going anywhere after climbing to the top of the carts around the world.

“Bodyguard”

Cowboy Carter has also given us several solo songs that defy genres and serve as a great showcase of Beyoncé’s versatility, and “Bodyguard” is a case in point.
