]]> “The Garden of Time” was chosen as the dress code of this year’s Met Gala, and it’s among the best ones yet. Stars in attendance certainly understood the assignment, and we’ve seen everyone from Zendaya and Gigi Hadid to Tyla and Mindy Kaling put their own twist on this theme.

“Florals for spring” may not be groundbreaking, as we learned from “The Devil Wears Prada”, but they were certainly a great fit for this theme. Zendaya, who co-chaired this year’s ceremony, embraced this trend with open arms, and she was joined by the likes of Demi Moore and Sydney Sweeney.

Cardi B put a subtle twist on the floral trend, wearing a dress reminiscent of a black rose. Janelle Monáe went down the sustainable route and wore a Vera Wang dress featuring shaped flowers made from recycled plastic bottles.

Some of the stars attending this year’s Met Gala took us deep into the woods with their red carpet looks. Lana Del Rey’s look divided the fashion fans, but her veiled Alexander McQueen gown with hand-embroidered thorny vines did a great job evoking the theme, along with Taylor Russell’s Loewe spectacular wood-painted bodice.

Some of the stars in attendance didn’t focus on channeling the garden vibes and decided to play with the concept of time itself. Tyla paired her sandy Balmain gown with an hourglass, while Mindy Kaling’s Gaurav Gupta dress did a great job evoking the sands of time.

The story of the Birkin bag begins in 1984 on a flight from Paris to London. Jean-Louis Dumas, the then CEO of Hermès, found himself seated next to the British actress and singer Jane Birkin. Birkin, known for her chic style, was attempting to fit her straw tote into the overhead compartment when the contents spilled onto the floor. This incident sparked a conversation between her and Dumas.

Inspired by this chance encounter, Dumas set out to create a leather bag that was both stylish and functional. He sketched the initial design on an airplane sickness bag, and thus, the Birkin bag was born. 

Part of the Birkin’s allure lies in its exclusivity. Hermès does not use mass production techniques, and the scarcity of Birkin bags is a deliberate strategy by the company. However, these piercings are more painful and take longer to heal than standard lobe piercings. If you’re considering getting your cartilage pierced, check out these tips and guidance so you can go into it fully prepared.

Cartilage Can Scar

First, it’s important to note that with proper aftercare, your cartilage piercing will almost certainly turn out fine. However, for some people the body can reject cartilage piercings, and one of the most common ways is for a lump or bump to form around your new piercing. Sometimes, this can go down or disappear after a few days, but unfortunately for some people it will stick around until after the piercing is removed (and sometimes even after that). It’s good to be aware that every cartilage piercing you get carries a small risk of this, so make sure you listen and follow your piercer’s aftercare advice carefully.

It Can Hurt

Everyone’s pain thresholds are different, so before you get your ear pierced it can be difficult to predict how bad it will be. However, almost everyone finds a cartilage piercing more painful than a lobe piercing. This is partly because cartilage piercings are performed using a needle and so can take a bit longer to complete, whereas many lobe piercings are done using an ear piercing “gun”.

It Will Take Longer To Heal

Depending on where you go, some piercers will tell you that a lobe piercing can be changed after six weeks. It’s very unlikely that your cartilage piercing will be ready to be changed in so short a time – most piercers recommend leaving it for at least twelve weeks, to allow the piercing to fully heal. Make sure you choose jewelry that you like when you get pierced, as it’s going to be in your ear for some time!

The story of the Birkin bag begins in 1984 on a flight from Paris to London. Jean-Louis Dumas, the then CEO of Hermès, found himself seated next to the British actress and singer Jane Birkin. Birkin, known for her chic style, was attempting to fit her straw tote into the overhead compartment when the contents spilled onto the floor. This incident sparked a conversation between her and Dumas.

Inspired by this chance encounter, Dumas set out to create a leather bag that was both stylish and functional. He sketched the initial design on an airplane sickness bag, and thus, the Birkin bag was born. 

Part of the Birkin’s allure lies in its exclusivity. Hermès does not use mass production techniques, and the scarcity of Birkin bags is a deliberate strategy by the company. However, these piercings are more painful and take longer to heal than standard lobe piercings. If you’re considering getting your cartilage pierced, check out these tips and guidance so you can go into it fully prepared.

Cartilage Can Scar

First, it’s important to note that with proper aftercare, your cartilage piercing will almost certainly turn out fine. However, for some people the body can reject cartilage piercings, and one of the most common ways is for a lump or bump to form around your new piercing. Sometimes, this can go down or disappear after a few days, but unfortunately for some people it will stick around until after the piercing is removed (and sometimes even after that). It’s good to be aware that every cartilage piercing you get carries a small risk of this, so make sure you listen and follow your piercer’s aftercare advice carefully.

It Can Hurt

Everyone’s pain thresholds are different, so before you get your ear pierced it can be difficult to predict how bad it will be. However, almost everyone finds a cartilage piercing more painful than a lobe piercing. This is partly because cartilage piercings are performed using a needle and so can take a bit longer to complete, whereas many lobe piercings are done using an ear piercing “gun”.

It Will Take Longer To Heal

Depending on where you go, some piercers will tell you that a lobe piercing can be changed after six weeks. It’s very unlikely that your cartilage piercing will be ready to be changed in so short a time – most piercers recommend leaving it for at least twelve weeks, to allow the piercing to fully heal. Make sure you choose jewelry that you like when you get pierced, as it’s going to be in your ear for some time!
