How to Make a Personal Tablet Holder From a Vintage Book

Have you ever looked at your sleek, modern tablet and thought it could use a touch of old-school charm? Transforming a vintage book into a stylish tablet holder is a fantastic way to give new life to an old favorite while keeping your digital device snug and secure. Here’s how you can make one.

  1. Start by selecting a vintage hardcover book that fits the size of your tablet. The book should be slightly larger than your device.
  2. Open your book to about one-third of the way through. Use a ruler and pencil to mark the area where your tablet will sit. Make sure to leave a little margin around the edges for a snug fit. Using a craft knife, carefully cut along the pencil lines, slicing through several pages at a time until you’ve created a compartment deep enough to house your tablet securely.
  3. Once the cutting is complete, brush a coat of Mod Podge or your chosen adhesive inside the cut-out area and along the edges of the pages to keep them from fraying or coming loose.
  4. Lastly, you can attach Velcro strips or elastic straps to the inside edges of the book. This will hold the tablet in place even when the bookholder is moved.
