How to Know if You’re Experiencing Iron Deficiency

There is an ongoing issue as an adult of wanting to look after one’s health without going too overboard. So often if you experience a symptom and search it online, there will be loads of unnecessarily scary advice about what could be going on. It’s hard to navigate this scenario, but if in doubt it’s always worth getting something checked out if you’re worried. Iron deficiency and anemia are common conditions that can cause issues if left to their own devices. Here are some warning signs to keep in mind.

Feeling Overly Tired

It’s normal to feel tired when you haven’t slept well, but if you’re noticing that you feel exhausted on a regular basis, then this could be a clue that there’s something more going on.

Dizziness and Light-Headedness

Feeling dizzy every now and then is an annoying but common issue. However, if you frequently feel light-headed and experience bouts of dizziness then this is a classic symptom of low iron levels.

Pale or Yellow Skin

This can be harder to notice than other symptoms, but if you are feeling that you’ve been looking a little paler than usual recently then it may be worth getting it checked out.

Shortness of Breath

If you have been feeling out of breath easily after exerting little energy, then this is usually a clear sign that something isn’t right. While many factors could cause breathlessness, if you’ve noticed other iron-related symptoms then it is likely to be linked.
